The community of developers is proud to announce the release of a new version of ArgoUML. ArgoUML 0.10 is the new stable release of ArgoUML. The development has continuously been going on since the last public release and we now feel we can call it stable enough for another public release. As with most software projects, it is never finished. To express this we called it 'version 0.10'. It is a lot better than the previous release but still far from perfect. As you know, ArgoUML is an Open Source project. It is developed by a community of interested programmers and researchers, contributing their time or using ArgoUML to test and share their ideas with the world. For Arg= oUML this means two things. First of all anybody is allowed and encouraged to download the source code and improve on it with the hope that the improvements eventually will be incorporated into the project so that everyone can benefit from it. Secondly ArgoUML has been, is and will be a tool containing interesting new ideas in the field of UML design. If you would like to contribute your ideas and your time to the further development of this project you are welcome to do so by joining the project. You can also use ArgoUML as a framework to test your own ideas on how to build tools for UML design. Another way of helping us is to promote our project. For example, vote for ArgoUML at the JDJ Readers Choice Award at http://www.sys-con.com/java/readerschoice2002/. ArgoUML is currently on 7th place. On the Internet, ArgoUML has become one of the most well-known UML projects. If you look for 'UML' or 'UML tool' at Google you will find it on the first page. Since version 0.8.1a the following big improvements have been made: * Sequence diagrams are added * Use Case diagrams augmented with extends and includes * A module/plug-in concept that makes it possible to write additions * A User Manual is provided Furthermore 0.10 contains countless features, enhancements and problems solved, too many to remember or list. You can download it from http://www.argouml.org. Or you can directly launch it via Java Web Start (if you have that installed or are running JDK 1.4) by following this link: http://www.argouml.org/files/4/0/0100/ArgoUMLWebStart.jnlp Feedback is very welcome. Even more so we would like to have your active contribution to the project. The ArgoUML project is supported by Gentleware. Gentleware is developing Poseidon for UML, a commercial derivative of ArgoUML. Find more information at http://www.gentleware.com.
